Ca’ Foscari in the QS World University Ranking

The QS World University Ranking by subject has placed Ca’ Foscari of Venice among the top 150 universities in the world for ‘Arts & Humanities’ and ‘Languages’, and it is among the top 200 for ‘History’. ‘Economics’ has kept its place among the top 250 in the world.

The University is also the third state university in Italy for the quality of research according to ANVUR ratings, the National Agency for the Evaluation of University Research Systems.

Departments of excellence: five Ca’ Foscari departments have been awarded additional funding by the Italian Ministry for education for a total of 35 million euros over 5 years, to which another 13.5 million has been made available by the University.

Interdisciplinary Studies

Ca’ Foscari offers innovative interdisciplinary programmes, programmes entirely taught in English and double and joint degrees in collaboration with international universities. Achieve excellence in many fields of study: you can specialise in International Relations or dedicate yourself to the study of Conservation for Cultural Heritage, Humanities, or even pursue studies in Foreign Languages choosing from among 40 different languages of Western and Eastern Societies.

In the field of science, your studies can range from the field of Climate Change to Computer Science or to the study of Nanotechnologies and Nanomaterials. You may also choose Economics, Management and Legal Studies with courses and curricula taught in English.

Minor and Active Learning Centre

A Minor is a course aimed at those enrolled in Bachelor’s Degree Programmes composed of 3 modules, each worth 6 ECTS, making up a total of 18 ECTS. It allows students to amplify and complete their education, whether scientific or in the humanities, looking at materials that they have not yet had the chance to in their main subject. You can enter your Minor choice when completing your study plan.

The Active Learning Center is aimed at Master’s Degree students. They provide an innovative way of teaching in which participants are actively involved in the production of knowledge by being proactive (learning by doing). Lectures are more interactive, experiential and interdisciplinary. They promote innovation processes in concrete cases through the creation of an open, creative context, able to offer listening and trust. Teachers assist students with self-discovery and experimentation, highlighting transversal skills that are useful in the world of work.

Work: Employment above the national average

Ca’ Foscari has held its place at the top of the employment front with the excellent figures of Ca’ Foscari graduates in the job market: according to the last Almalaurea survey, the employment rate is 5 points above the national average, being temporary or permanent work.

The quality of teaching, the transferable skills and the numerous opportunities offered by Ca’ Foscari’s Career Service offers students and graduates the opportunity to put themselves into a professional context during or after their studies.

Research excellence

Ca’ Foscari invests in research, supports and promotes the work of young researchers, participates in the most important calls for European funding, invests in PhD programmes also offered in English language, and develops in innovative areas of research, namely in science, production and work.

Ca’ Foscari is at the top of the latest Good Practice ranking, which ranks universities in terms of student services: Ca’ Foscari students enroled in 1st year and beyond have expressed their appreciation of Ca’ Foscari library services, the flexible opening hours and satisfaction of the lending services. Their evaluations place the university well above the national average.
The survey also focused on internationalization, measuring participant satisfaction levels of the support services: Ca' Foscari ranks above the average on this aspect as well.
