Maize.Live June 2019

WONDERLEARN

A new dawn for corporate education.

On 6th-7th of June some of our BA students had the opportunity to take part in Maize.Live event, below you can learn about the experience of Year 1 student Danilo:

What I am about to tell is one of the most exciting experiences of my life.
During the first week of June I was lucky enough to participate to the 3rd edition of WonderLEARN, the maize.LIVE event which aims to inspire dreams and offer a global view of the most impactful topics the world is very close to face.

The "unconference" was a trip in unlearning what we know about learning (our comfort-zone) and discovering new paradigms able to better prepare our life habits to a new era.
I don't know what exactly happened to me while I was there but I know that I was in the right place. Indeed, I am very interested in global social issues, especially the skills gap. I had the possibility to study innovative fields in innovative environments and that gives me the right perspective to overcome traditionalistic views that lead nowhere, but there are a lot of people who do not understand what is happening.
How can I contribute to find a solution for powering everyone to deal with the new skills and new ways to think a post-Fordism society? This is the very question I ask myself often times.

This amazing event was the perfect occasion to reflect about the best learning approaches for the "knowledge economy".
The organizers took care about every details, creating a fascinating environment able to disconnect us from the world and enter in a dream for two days.
We followed all the speeches while sitting at our elegant tables, sipping tea and taking notes of the most interesting ideas that were suggested.
We have dealt with many successful case studies, studied the strategies undertaken by "future-shaper" companies and countries and reflected on generational macro and micro trends, talking face to face with speakers and managers during each break or every moment of debate.

An episode I will never forget was also having lunch with Damien Lanfrey, one of the speakers of the event, co-founder of Future Education Modena and former Chief Innovation Officer of the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research. He told me about his work for the drafting and implementation of the National Plan for Digital School and we discussed the importance of the political role for innovation.

It was a great experience.
"What would you do if there were no constraints?" - With this sentence Robert C. Wolcott opened the event and with this sentence I would like to leave you, hoping that it will inspire you towards positive reflections.
