The Global Economics and Social Affairs Master (GESAM) is organized by Ca’ Foscari University of Venice in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Geneva.
In the current global age, we are facing enormous unprecedented challenges. The mission of GESAM is more important than ever before: to develop a new generation of leaders, or rather, “professionals” in the global arena, who, in their different fields of activity (public and private enterprises, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, public administrations etc.) have a wide-ranging competence and expertise in the field of economics and social/labour law matters, and a knowledge of economic phenomena linked to globalization combined with social concerns, in the firm belief that economic and social progress must advance together, and that the latter is not a natural effect of the former but must be institutionally planned.
The Master aims to meet the needs of the economic world at a global level, not only by developing high-level management professionals for institutional and private environments that operate at an international level, but also new professional figures such as, by way of example, eco-managers (experts in sustainability and environmental certifications; sustainability management; green jobs management); social accountability consultants; developers of new markets; network management experts; experts in international co-operation for development.
The Master is particularly addressed to people who hold positions of responsibility who wish to improve their expertise and consequently their professional status in order to become more competitive in the labour market.
After GESAM, students can continue their studies by enrolling at the Second Cycle Degree Programme in International Relations, with the possibility of having recognized up to a maximum of 48 credits from those obtained during the master.
