The 2nd level Specialist Master's course in Public Administration has a multidisciplinary approach and provides the in-depth knowledge necessary to deal with the changing role of public administrations in general, and local authorities in particular. This transformation process requires juridical, economic, managerial, sociological and statistical competencies. 
The course will begin with a short introductory stage intended to create a shared knowledge base among participants then move on to equipping them with the competencies necessary for the governance and public policies. 
The course will focus on the following areas of know-how and competencies in particular:

  • General profiles;
  • Administrative governance, procedures and activities control and responsibility;
  • Management of human resources and relations with trade unions in public administrations, with particular attention being paid to local autonomies;
  • Fderalism, regulation, public assets and services;
  • Information systems and performance measurement, assessment and management;
  • Financial instruments for public administrations;
  • Cultural and managerial instruments for public administrations;
  • Strategic management.

Professional profiles

This Specialist Master's Programme is intended for graduates in economic, juridical, managerial disciplines and other social sciences wishing to work in public administrations and local authorities in particular. 
This Specialist Master's Programme equips graduates for work positions in public, national and local state administrations (municipalities, provinces, regions) and agencies carrying out delegated functions (control, management of sectoral policies). 
The transfer of functions — from service production to service regulation — taking place in public administrations, and local authorities in particular, involves major changes in executive profiles and requires on-going training and professional growth. The management of these organisations calls for the development of professionals capable of applying and integrating multidisciplinary competencies in order to successfully govern complex systems. 
Graduates will be equipped for the following professional positions:

  • managers and executives in Municipalities, Provinces and regions in the technical and administrative, and social service areas;
  • managers and executives in public service management bodies related to the above-mentioned organisations (such as service companies, Ipab — the Italian institute for public welfare and charity, etc.);
  • managers and executives in public and private companies working exclusively, or mainly, with public administrations;
  • managers and executives in public agencies performing regulatory functions at local and regional level.
