The Master's is the result of collaboration between Ca’ Foscari University and the Centro Ricerca e Formazione Psicomotoria e Pedagogica (Centre for Psychomotor and Pedagogic Research and Training, Ce.R.Fo.P.P.) in Udine.

The programme provides professional training in educational and preventive psychomotor therapy at both basic and specialisation levels:

  1. Basic training: oriented towards the educational and preventive disciplines for the developmental age, adult education, group dynamics, planning and work-integrated learning.
  2. Specialisation training: the programme is divided into three areas of psychomotor intervention: theoretical learning, personal adult education and practical training with children, all interdependent and structured on two levels: educational practice and preventive practice.

The learning is backed by an active philosophy centred around respect for people and their possibilities, acknowledging their ability to be protagonists in their own future and fostering full development of their potentials and the characteristics of their personal and social capital.

Theoretical learning area: the psychomotor specialisation is aimed at developing a range of professional skills:

  • observation of psychomotor expressiveness in infants;
  • listening to and understanding what the child conveys through psychomotor expressiveness;
  • comprehension of the development and overall maturing of the child;
  • activation of the child's agency and work on resilience, empowerment and capabilities;
  • skill in managing the dynamics of groups of children, family relations, interteam social relations and institutional relations.

Personal adult education area: the second aspect of the Master's covers the theme of psychomotor assistance, focussing on its preventive-educational value. It analyses learning difficulties in the educational-scholastic and/or private context, aimed at children who, for various reasons, are experiencing temporary difficulties and tonic-emotional-behavioural fragility.

Practical training with children area: the aim of the last aspect of the course is to give every psychomotor therapist the active, creative and relational skills necessary to follow, support and help the child develop autonomy and relationality; stimulating and fostering desire and curiosity towards themselves and the surrounding world.

The proposed course programme is oriented towards experiential learning in personal training workshops, projects on the ground and the planning of learning processes based on reflexivity in action (Schön). Research, reflection, study and practical training will be reinforced and complemented by active experimentation (personal study, project work, workshops, practical experiences, research-action/research-training and role play).
The Master's is conceived as a learning community in which everyone contributes to self-enrichment and enrichment through collaborative learning and peer-tutoring.

Pursuant to legislation (no. 4 of 14 January 2013) regulating the profession of psychomotor therapist, attainment of the qualification of Master's in the Profession of Psychomotor Therapist and subsequent attendance of an advanced 900 hour course focusing on case studies organised by Challenge School qualifies the participant to join the Italian Associazione Nazionale Unitaria Terapisti e Psicomotricità dell’Età Evolutiva Italiani (Italian National Association of Development Age Psychomotor Therapists, ANUPI TNPEE), requiring a total of 2400 hours specific training (1500 Master's + 900 advance training course).
