Daniel Pennac FRANCE

Saturday, 6 April — 6.00 pm — Auditorium Santa Margherita Ca' Foscari

Daniel Pennac, born in Casablanca in 1944, a high school literature teacher in Paris, after having spent his youth around the world, between Africa, Europe, and Asia,  finally settled in Paris. When he started writing, he discovered a particular inclination for comic stories, surreal but well rooted in the contradictions of our time. He achieved success after his forties with the Belleville series centred on the character of Benjamin Malaussène, professional scapegoat, and his family. Among his best-known works: Reads Like a Novel (1994), Monsieur Malaussène (1995), The Scapegoat (1998), Write to kill (1999), The Dictator and the Hammock (2006), A Love for the Ages (2017). Pennac won the Grinzane Cavour International Prize in 2002 and was awarded the Legion of Honour for Arts and Literature in 2005.

The event is fully booked. If you come to the venue at least 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the event, it is likely that there will be some seats available.

Moreover, for those who will not be able to enter the Auditorium to attend  the conversation with Daniel Pennac, we arranged for the event to be livestreamed in the original language (without translation) at Aula Magna Silvio Trentin, Ca' Dolfin. Booking will not be necessary to attend the livestream; entrance is free until seating capacity is reached.
