Arno Camenisch, born in Tavanasa in 1978, is a Swiss poet and novelist. He writes in German and Romansch, a Romance language spoken in Switzerland. His first novel was Sez Ner (The Alp, 2009), followed by Hinter dem Bahnhof (2010), Ustrinkata, (2012), Fred und Franz (2013), Nächster Halt Verlangen. Ein paar Kolumnen (2014), Die Kur (2015) and Der letzte Schnee (2018). His works have appeared in literary publications such as Harper’s Magazine and Best European Fiction and have been translated into more than twenty languages.  He was awarded the Hölderlin Prize in the debut writers’ section, the Swiss Prize for Literature and the Schiller Prize of the Zurich Bank. His trilogy (which includes Sez Ner, Hinter dem Bahnhof, and Ustrinkata) won him a nomination to the European Literary Prize. In March 2015 the Swiss Broadcasting Company and 3sat aired the documentary Arno Camenisch – Schreiben auf der Kante. He currently lives in Biel.
