Presentation

Ca' Foscari University of Venice and ESCP Europe have developed a Double University Master's Programme in Management for Digital Publishing to train professional figures able to propose and manage new digital publishing businesses, adopting new teaching methods combining the experiences and managerial tools of international level teachers and professionals.

Together, Ca' Foscari and ECSP Europe offer an opportunity to:

  • acquire two Master's qualifications from two internationally recognised institutions with a single attendance;
  • enter the European workplace;
  • enjoy an education and training experience in one of the world capitals of digital publishing (Paris) and a city with great significance for publishing (Venice);
  • learn from both academics from the two institutions and expert professionals.

The spread of digital technology is profoundly changing the publishing and media sectors: new forms of reading material and new consumption practices, new key players, new types of financing, new sales channels etc.
Books, however, still have fundamental economic, social and cultural weight in Europe’s cultural expenditure. To satisfy the high expectations of key players in this industry, the Master's aims to create a range of scientific and literary figures, united by a passion for the written form and transmitting contents and knowledge.
The objective is to understand, accompany and anticipate the most important evolutions on these markets by training top-level professionals who will rapidly be in a position to:

  • develop an international strategic vision of the sectors in which they are evolving;
  • possess a global, innovating approach to content management;
  • manage operational know-how as a whole;
  • contribute to market development and the continuation and renewal of products.

On the course, thanks to the partnership with ESCP Europe, sound managerial competencies alternate with operational skills, in complete coherence with businesses operating in the field at European level.

Professional profiles

The objective is to train project managers for all types of publishing company or organisation.
Creative, pragmatic managers, as at ease with specifically publishing aspects (whether digital or printed), as with management, marketing, legal and commercial aspects.

Professional roles include:

  • Managers in national and international publishing organisations, able to reach a high position and take on managerial responsibility, with the skills to identify and manage intangible and tangible resources, activate partnership agreements and manage projects, including at an international level;
  • expert consultants able to initiate and manage a publishing project professionally, from generation of the idea to its international development and valorisation.

The programme aims to equip students with the skills necessary for the strategic and operational management of organisations (profit, nonprofit; public, private, mixed) active in the publishing system.

The period in Paris will include numerous seminars by professionals covering management of the graphics production chain, exploitation of copyright in publishing, purchasing strategies, artwork procedures, image acquisition and the diffusion and distribution of digital and printed books.

At the end of the course, graduates will be equipped to occupy roles of responsibility in the publishing, digital media, and printing sectors, communications agencies, cultural institutions and public authorities in Italy, France or abroad.
