the course is interdisciplinary – after a first part focused on fundamentals that are specific for the scientific training of the graduate (mathematics, physics and chemistry) and that are paramount to acquire and master scientific language, two types of detailed studies are developed

one is more historical and architectural, dealing with art history, architecture history, restoration theories, allowing the students to broaden their understanding of the historical and artistic evolution of an object

the other focuses more on application and technology, dealing with the techniques of architectural restoration and restoration laboratories, also giving students manual skills for early hands-on intervention on artworks (canvases, tablets, archaeological finds, wooden objects, stone objects etc.)
