Professor of Mathematics for decision sciences, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.
This first course of Mathematics gives the basic knowledge which is necessary to enter the subjects of Economics and Computer Sciences. Expected learning outcomes: to be familiar with the scientific rigour and the language of calculus. To be able to use the methods and the techniques taught during the lectures.

Professor of Fundamentals of IT Law at the University of Ca’ Foscari of Venice.
The course is aimed to give the student the awareness of the legal themes and problems connected with the information technologies they use every day and, at the same time, the impact of these technologies on the traditional day by day legal affairs. Fundamentals of IT Law aims to define how it is possible to ask for a legal protection when we use IT devices or suffer a prejudice due to their misuse or abuse.

The goal of this course is to teach students how to approach problems with an algorithmic approach.
Students will learn some basic techniques for problem solving and how to use a programming language to provide a sound and formal description of a designed problem solution.
I am an Associate Professor at the Ca’ Foscari university of Venice and I do research on networks.
In the first part of my career I mainly focused on network security, while currently I am modelling, understanding, and improving Community Networks (CNs). I worked on the routing protocols, the scalability and the networking aspects of those large-scale, real-world mesh networks.
In the period 2016-2018 I was the technical coordinator of netCommons, the first European research project studying CNs with an interdisciplinary approach.

Giovanni Vaia’s interests include organization design and general management with a specific focus on digital transformation, information systems, network governance and outsourcing, performance management. He is the founder and the Scientific Director of the Digital Enterprise Lab (DEL) at Ca’ Foscari Venice. He is responsible of the digital transformation and organization optimization in many public organizations and private multinational companies.

The goal of this course is to teach students how to cleanse, process and visualize data. In particular, the students will learn how to use a programming language to read and write data from standard formats, process it to extract useful information, and visualize and plot it in order to show and explain its content.

He is researcher at the OFCE and adjunct professor at SciencesPo. He is currently working at the intersection of environmental and labour economics in a series of empirical papers on the labour market impacts of environmental regulation, with particular focus on changes in workforce skills, deindustrialization, green employment and the green job multiplier. As labour economist, he tries to disentangle the labour market impacts of family background at different stages of the working career and for different levels of ability. He is also working on empirical tests of routine-biased technical change. As environmental economist, he studies the effectiveness of environmental policies on innovation depending on the degree of market competition. Finally, he is interested in the effects of inequality on economic and environmental performance.

Business English - 12 hours
The course will develop students’ understanding and use of Business English. Topics range from project and self-presentations to negotiation techniques applied to case studies. The course will give students the opportunity to write plans and reports so they can demonstrate their understanding.
Duncan left York University in 1988 with a Degree in Politics to begin a successful 25-year career in Advertising, Sales and Marketing.
After learning the basics of sales and negotiations in Business Publishing he moved into consumer publishing, eventually becoming Client Sales Manager across the UK Music Industry for the largest UK Entertainment Publisher. Then, headhunted by the UK’s leading Entertainment Retailer to manage an annual budget in excess of £18m, he worked in retail media and marketing for a decade driving innovation in both marketing and advertising as well as supply-side relationships.
In 2013 he began a planned career change to English Language teaching, first in London and then moving to Italy in 2013 where he has taught for the last 6 years at all levels from beginner to proficiency. He has used his commercial experience to specialise in business English working across a wide range of industries including Finance and Banking, Pharmaceuticals, Sportswear and wine.
In his free time Duncan indulges his passion for cycling in the beautiful Italian countryside, completing the Brevetto del Grappa challenge last year.
Presentation Design - 12 hours
The course will develop students’ presentation skills, from both a graphic and public speaking perspective. Students will work in groups to apply the knowledge gained in real case studies.
Anna Polon is a designer based in Pordenone, where she founded her own studio Anna Polon – Atelier du design in 2015. She works on institutional, artistic and commercial projects within the fields of art, architecture and design. Projects include publication design, visual identity and digital media, all with a strong editorial approach and a consistently innovative use of typography, materials and color. The studio is able to call upon the resources of editors, photographers, programmers and web-designers from a network of professionals. Besides studio projects, her studio hold lectures and workshops.
The Geopolitics of International Business - 12 hours
The course examines how business, and especially globalization, affects conflict and other aspects of geopolitics.
Benjamin Sutherland is journalist for The Economist and former reporter for Newsweek. He also teaches geopolitics at the Paris School of Business and HEC, a grande école near Paris serially ranked Europe’s top business university by The Financial Times.

The course is delivered in parallel with the Probability and Statistics course, to provide students not only with the ability to analyze data, but also with the skills and knowledge of presenting it in the most effective way.
Born in Milan 46 years ago, Nicola works since 1996 in the Retail Industry, following many IT projects. In 2006 became IT Consultant managing multiple implementation project (Crms, E-learning Platforms, BI Tools, etc.).
This background gives him a great focus on business intelligence and on training areas. In 2011 he created, with Andrea Vestidello, Realthink: 6 years later they complete the launch of Experio. Fond of technology, he teaches about Information Design e dell’Ed-Tech tools in important institutes: Digital Accademia, Unindustria Treviso, Sive, etc…). He works as Mentor inside the accelleration program H-Camp (H-Farm spa).

For over 15 years he has been involved in business communication in multinational companies. After the Degree in Modern Literature at the University of Padua, a specialization in Communication at CUOA (Altavilla Vicentina) and another one in Marketing at Istituto Superiore del Marketing (Rome), he held positions of increasing responsibility in various multinational companies. Today he is Partner & Senior Trainer of the training company Talent Partners and he is also Head of Communication at Carraro Group. Both in Carraro and outside he is a trainer in effective communication, public speaking and edutainment.

The hands-on course Think Visually - Communicate Strategically introduces students to key communication strategies as they engage the fundamentals of visual communication. The aim is to develop a digital-first attitude in finalised visual communication.
Massimiliano Fusari - Director of the Digital and Interactive Storytelling LAB at the University of Westminster (London)
As Senior Lecturer, he teaches The Theory and Practice of Visual Communication, Interactive Storytelling and Digital Creativity. In parallel, he delivers courses on Project Management, Digital Ethics and Digital Aesthetics, and Multimedia and Digital Journalism.
He holds a ‘Laurea’ (degree combining a BA with an MA) on Middle East Politics (Venice, 1999), an MA in Anthropology of Media (London, 2001), a Doctorate in Cultural Anthropology (Venice, 2011), and a practice-based PhD in the Theory and Practice of Visual Storytelling (Exeter, 2015).
His round academic profile is completed by 25 years of professional work as a Consultant and Photojournalist from Morocco to China, collaborating with media agencies, news outlets, the United Nations and Governments. He speaks fluently Italian and English, Arabic and Persian.
Between 2012 and 2016, he trains diplomats on Digital Diplomacy and Visual Communication at the Diplomatic Institute of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In 2016, he establishes the Visual Storytelling Academy, to combine academic research with professional media productions for bespoke visual storytelling consulting.
Between 2017 and 2018, he establishes the course on Visual Storytelling at the Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts (SIVA). He trains UN and NGOs personnel on Visual Storytelling for Strategic Social Campaigning at the International Labour Organization (ILO).
In 2018, at a BBC’s event, he pitches the mobile app ‘The Meta-Image,’ which the Quintin Hogg Trust funds as a toolkit for visual storytelling thinking and production on smartphones.
In 2019, he delivers training activities at the Council of Europe in Budapest and a keynote at the Commonwealth Centre for Connected Learning in Malta.
