Why enrolling in this programme

1

The master's degree in Environmental Humanities explores the role humanities are called to play in times of environmental crisis, generating socio-ecological awareness and inspiring sustainability transformations

2

The programme is international and entirely taught in English, interdisciplinary (combining the humanities with natural and social sciences, overcoming the traditional dichotomy between nature-oriented and culture-oriented subjects), and intercultural (examining the socio-ecological imaginaries of both Western and non-Western civilizations retrospectively and perspectively). The programme aims at training practitioners, academics, and leaders capable of envisioning and bringing about systemic change for a sustainable future

3

The programme benefits from the unique position of Venice as global hotspot for the environmental humanities: a city at the forefront of the battle against sea-level rise, a historic crossroads of civilizations, and a world capital of contemporary art and culture. Classroom teaching will be enriched by the experiential learning offered through fieldwork and internships
