David Wagner

David Wagner was born in 1971, and has lived in Berlin since 1991. His prize-winning debut “My Night-Blue Trousers” (“Meine nachtblaue Hose”) was published in 2000, and his novel “Four Apples” (“Vier Äpfel”) was long-listed for the German Book Prize. His best-selling novel “Life" (“Leben”) won the 2013 Leipzig Book Fair Prize and the Best Foreign Novel of the Year Award 2014 in the People's Republic of China. He was Friedrich Dürrenmatt Guest Professor for World Literature at the University of Bern and his books have been translated into 15 languages. He has written extensively about the city of Berlin in collections such as “The Wall’s park” (“Mauer Park”, 2001), “What Colour Is Berlin” (“Welche Farbe hat Berlin”, 2011) and “Getting lost in Berlin” (“Verlaufen in Berlin”, 2021). His most recent novel “The forgetful giant” (“Der vergessliche Riese”) won the Bayerische Buchpreis 2019.
