What do you teach at Ca’ Foscari? What are your main research interests?
All the courses I have taught so far at Ca' Foscari fall within the branch of Physical Chemistry. In this academic year (2020/2021) I have been assigned the courses called "Physical Chemistry 1 and Laboratory", "Spectroscopy and Exercises" and "Physical Chemistry 2", but in the past I have also taught other courses such as "Quantum Chemistry" and "Symmetry and Group Theory in Chemistry". As far as scientific research is concerned, I mainly focus on infrared spectra of atmospheric, astrophysical and industrial molecules. In addition to vibrational and rotational-vibrational studies of free molecules, I have also conducted research on compounds adsorbed on solid surfaces.

Tell us about your academic path.
I graduated in Industrial Chemistry in 1987 and received my PhD in Chemical Sciences in 1992. From 1991 to 1997 I was a technical assistant and then a university researcher; since 2000 I have been working as associate professor of physical chemistry at Ca' Foscari University, Venice.

What has given you the greatest satisfaction in your career?
Whenever I receive positive feedback on my lectures, when my scientific articles are cited by others, and when a young person I have had as a student and/or on an internship finds a good job, then I feel useful and professionally satisfied.
