What do you teach at Ca’ Foscari? What are your main research interests?
I teach quantum chemistry and structural characterisation techniques (electron microscopy and diffraction). I am interested in everything related to the atomic structure of materials and the relation between structure and macroscopic properties. My areas of research cover nanoscale materials, their unique properties and their structural characterisation.

What are you most passionate about in your research?
Observing materials under a transmission electron microscope.

Have you always known that this was going to be your path?
It was a big wish of mine, but I didn't know if I could do it. The issue of gender inequality in STEM disciplines in Italy is still very topical.

What would you tell girls who want to approach these disciplines?
Don't let anything discourage you and keep going.
