Mariza's concert

Teatro Malibran, Venice
March 29, 2023 - 9.00 pm

From Mozambique, where she was born, to the Mouraria district of Lisbon, where she grew up, to the whole world, that has welcomed her among its most moving voices ever: in her 20-year-long career, her passion for fado and a strong musical personality have brought Mariza to international prominence. No Portuguese artist since Amália Rodrigues has lived through such a triumphant international career, deserving so many prestigious recognitions, reviews and countless prizes and awards. She has collaborated with Jacques Morelenbaum, John Mauceri, José Merced, Miguel Poveda, Gilberto Gil, Ivan Lins, Lenny Kravitz, Sting, Cesária Évora, Tito Paris, Carlos do Carmo, and Rui Veloso. Her repertoire, while firmly rooted in classical and contemporary fado, has evolved over time to include new musical genres, such as Cape Verdean morna, and Brazilian and Spanish classics. The concert is organised by Veneto Jazz, in collaboration with Fondazione di Venezia, Teatro Stabile del Veneto, and Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia, as part of the program of the Literary Festival Incroci di civiltà.

The concert is managed by Veneto Jazz
