Italian Dragon Boat championship, medals for Venetian Universities

On June 17th and 18th the Italian Absolute Dragon Boat championship - 200 meters and 500 meters - took place in the Idroscalo lake in Milan, falling under the ‘small boat’ and ‘standard boat’ categories. The Venetian Universities team - Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and IUAV University of Venice - took part in the competition with 35 athletes, mainly students, and obtained great results.

Gold and Silver medals for the feminine team and its 24 athletes who confirmed once again their title in both categories, ‘small boat’ and ‘standard boat’, for both 200 and 500 meters. In the final race the Venetian Universities presented 2 teams of 10 who took the first and second place, followed by two teams from Latium, Albadrago and Albalonga.

Great results for the mixed team as well with two silver medals for 500 meters both as ‘small boat’ and ‘standard boat’, a silver medal for 200 meters as ‘small boat’, and a bronze medal as ‘standard boat’. The races were fought till the last meter, and our dragons were able to shine in a high level of competition, arriving a fraction of second after the winning team.

The young athletes from Ca’ Foscari and IUAV proved an extremely high level of technique and training. Many students were competing for the first time and showed great tenacity.
