More medals for the athletes of the Venetian Universities of Ca’ Foscari and IUAV, this time at Szeged in Hungary where the European Championships of Dragon Boat ICF (International Canoe Federation) just took place.

The feminine ‘master’ team, mainly Venetian athletes, is a European Champion for the second year in a row with the 2000 meters gold medal. The team won against some of the strongest teams in Europe as the Hungarian and German ones who got the second and third place. The ‘master’ team also got the 200 meters silver medal and the 500 meters bronze medal.

The ‘premier’ feminine team, mainly young students and graduates of Ca’ Foscari and IUAV, together with the male team in mixed boats won the 2000 meters on small boat (10 persons) silver medal and the standard boat (20 persons) bronze medal.

Such results show the exceptional level of preparation of the athletes who train in the Venetian laguna all year long, their sacrifices with the technical staff who supports the team and the many excursions for training and competing in this Chinese discipline accessible for all students of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and IUAV.

For the third year in a row Giuseppe Barichello, a Ca’ Foscari employee, trains and leads the Ca’ Foscari-IUAV Dragon Boat team as well as being the director of the Italian national feminine Dragon Boat team.
