Accessible route 1 - San Basilio Ponte non attrezzato (10 minutes)

Take one of the following water buses:

  • Line 2 from the Ferrovia stop (Scalzi B landing stage);
  • Line 2 (S. Chiara E landing stage) or Line 6 (Parisi C landing stage) from the Piazzale Roma stop;
  • Line 2 from the Tronchetto stop (Tronchetto DX landing stage);

then get off at the San Basilio stop.
Head down the Calle del Vento (opposite the stop), cross Campo San Basilio (street sign gives name as “Campo San Basegio”) and continue along the street alongside the canal (the first stretch of which is called Fondamenta San Baseggio).
Cross the second bridge on your left (opposite the church of San Sebastiano). Cross Campo San Sebastiano (keeping the church on your left).
There is an accessible entrance on the left (ring the bell or contact the porter’s lodge beforehand).

Alternative route
Then get off at the San Basilio stop.
Head down the Calle del Vento (opposite the stop), cross Campo San Basilio (street sign gives name as “Campo San Basegio”) and continue along the street alongside the canal (the first stretch of which is called Fondamenta San Baseggio).
Cross the first bridge on your left (non-accessible) and continue along the Salizada San Basegio. There are two entrances –  one at Number 1656 and one at Number 1655 – both accessible by means of a ramp.
(If you intend to use these doors we recommend contacting the porter’s lodge beforehand because during periods at risk of flooding the doors are fitted with metal sheets, or ‘paratie’, to prevent water from entering).

in certain periods of the year there is a ramp on the wooden Dogana bridge on your left as you leave the San Basilio stop; in this case once you leave the landing stage use the ramp to cross the bridge then keep going until you see the ramp on your right leading down to Salita San Basegio.
Continue along Salita San Basegio then turn left into Calle Nuova. Turn right at the end then go straight ahead.
After the campo you will find an accessible entrance on the right? (Ring the bell or contact the porter’s lodge beforehand).
If you carry straight on alongside the Church of San Sebastiano, then turn right you will find yourself in front of the main entrance to the San Sebastiano campus (there are a few steps at the entrance).

Alternative route
Once you leave the landing stage use the ramp to cross the bridge then keep going until you see the ramp on your right leading down to Salita San Basegio. Continue right along Salita San Basegio.
There are two entrances – one at Number 1656 and one at Number 1655 – both accessible by means of a ramp.

Accessible route 2 - Stazione Marittima parking lot (5/10 minutes)

This route allows you to reach the building without crossing any bridges.
 Go down the ramp by the parking lot then continue along Salita San Basegio before turning left into Calle Nuova. Turn right at the end of the calle then go straight ahead.
After the campo there is an accessible entrance (ring the bell or contact the porter’s lodge beforehand).
If you carry straight on alongside the Church of San Sebastiano, then turn right you will find yourself in front of the main entrance to the San Sebastiano campus (there are a few steps at the entrance).
Remember to contact the University Disabled Students service at least two weeks in advance in order to request the Port Authority permit giving you access to the port area by car..

Alternative route
This route allows you to reach the building without crossing any bridges. Go down the ramp by the parking lot then continue along Salita San Basegio.
There are two entrances – one at Number 1656 and one at Number 1655 – both accessible by means of a ramp. Accessible route 3 - Santa Marta  (20/25 minutes)

Take one of the following water buses:

  • Lines 4.1 or 5.1 (accessible) from the Ferrovia, Piazzale Roma or Tronchetto stops;
  • Line 6.1 from Piazzale Roma (one wheelchair on board at a time at the discretion of the captain);

then get off at the S. Marta stop.
After exiting the landing stage area go up the ramp then cross the road (via the pedestrian crossing on the right) then keep heading right.
After passing the Guardia di Finanza offices, continue along Rampa di san Basilio and through the parking lot in the port area.
After passing buildings 17, 16, 13 and 12 on your left, turn right and continue along road next to the Giudecca canal. Continue past the IUAV and Polo di San Basilio (Building No. 5) buildings.
After Continue along Salita San Basegio then turn left into Calle Nuova.
Turn right at the end of the calle then go straight ahead.

Building accessibility

The San Sebastiano complex consists of a four-storey building with a cloister and courtyard.
The building, which was recently renovated, is almost fully accessible.
There is a map of the internal layout and routes in the entrance area.
Aula Padoan and Aula 24 only are reached via steps.

Toilets

There are accessible toilets both on the ground floor and on the other floors.
