Ca' Foscari professor gives a lecture for colleagues and students at the Azerbaijan University of Languages

The seminar focused on the lexical influence that the Ilkhanid Mongolian language had on Turkic, Iranian and Aramaic varieties of Transcaucasia. Such loanwords are still found in Azerbaijanian and represent a highly important isogloss for the classification of the Turkic languages.
The seminar is further evidence of the long-standing academic cooperation between Ca' Foscari and the Baku-based University of Languages, which has developed over the years both on a bilateral level and in the context of European exchange projects.
