Azerbaijani language course about to begin at Ca' Foscari

On February 7 the first lesson of the Azerbaijani language course, held by Prof. Elisabetta Ragagnin, will be held at Ca' Cappello. The course is devoted to the second year students of the bachelor’s degree programme entitled "Language, Culture and Society of Asia and Mediterranean Africa”.

The Azerbaijani language course expands Ca' Foscari's educational offerings focussing on Azerbaijan and the Caucasus. Other courses already offered include "Azerbaijan's Contemporary History, Foreign Policy, and Economics" and "Geopolitics and Geoeconomics of the Caspian Sea Area", both taught by Prof. Carlo Frappi, as well as "Archaeology of Anatolia and the Caucasus”, instructed by Prof. Elena Rova, and Prof. Aldo Ferrari's course on "Modern and Contemporary History of Caucasus and Central Asia".
Elisabetta Ragagnin is an associate professor at Ca' Foscari specialised in Turcology, Mongolian studies and Altaic studies. In Azerbaijan, she has given lectures and seminars on Turkic linguistics at several universities, including Baku State University, Qafqaz University and the Baku Eurasian University. In 2014 she was awarded an honourary doctorate by the Azerbaijani Academy of Sciences. She is also a member of the advisory board of the Azerbaijani journals "Türkologiya" and "Dilçilik araşdırmaları".
