Trends in Magnetism - Venice 2022

Venue

The conference venue is the beautiful Auditorium Santa Margherita. The Auditorium is a historical building from the ninth century, initially built as a church dedicated to Santa Margherita later transformed into a theatre, as shown by the frescoes that decorated it, and the beautiful painting on the ceiling representing the Saint’s martyre. The “campo” on which it is located is one of the most lively spots in the city, easily accessible from Piazzale Roma and from the train station.

The closest water bus stop is San Basilio, which can be reached with lines boarded at both the Ferrovia (train station) and Piazzale Roma (bus and taxi station) stops. Download the app “CheBateo?” to plan your trip, available in six languages, including the local dialect. You can purchase the tickets in advance on the website www.veneziaunica.it/en.
Walking is one of the best ways to discover Venice, but the hundreds of bridges may feel heavy after a while, so consider this option. The main water bus line the “Vaporetto” along the Grand Canal runs around the clock.

Accessibility

Accessible route and building accessibility

The ground floor of the auditorium, where the main room is, is fully accessible to people with disabilities. To reach the auditorium, there is a 800 m long route from the San Basilio water bus stop with no bridges to be crossed. Suggested line is number 2 because of the larger water buses.
The historical centre of Venice is generally not one of the most accessible areas, because of the many canals, bridges and narrow alleys (“calli”). However, be in contact with the organizers if you have accessibility requests, and we will make sure to provide all the necessary information to have an enjoyable time in Venice.
