Agenda
Effective Scientific Presentations
European Centre for Living Technology - San Marco 294
Speaker: Marcello Pelillo, Ca' Foscari University of Venice
Abstract
Scientific research is not complete until its results have been made known, usually in the form of a public lecture or talk. Giving oral presentations to audiences, large or small, is therefore an essential part of scientific life, and the ability to do so effectively can markedly contribute to career success. Although confident public speaking relies to some extent on innate abilities, it is a skill that can be learned and mastered by anyone. It is the aim of this lecture to provide some guidelines and tips for making one’s presentations as effective as possible so as to engage the audience and maximize impact.
