Certificates, graduation diplomas and supplements

From 1 January 2012 only relationships between individuals require certificates issued by public administrations concerning personal status, qualities and facts; in relationships with public administrations they have been replaced by personal sworn declarations (self-certification) drawn up by the individual concerned.

From the date above, under Article 15 of Italian Law 183 dated 12/11/2011, whenever the intended recipient is a public administration, students and graduates should produce self-certification to replace their graduation certificate, enrolment certificate or certificate documenting exams taken. In fact, the certificates that can be downloaded in your Personal Area all include the wording "Under Art. 15 of Italian Law 183/2011, this certificate may not be submitted to public administration bodies or private suppliers of public services".

The following models of self-certification are currently available in your Personal Area:

  • enrolment with exams;
  • degree with exams;
  • tuition fees per solar year.

Certification can be obtained in the following ways:

  • via the university website www.unive.it, using your User ID and password to enter your Personal Area > Online student services > Certificates;
  • using the self-service points available on several of the university campuses;
  • making an appointment with the Student Administration Unit for Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes (you will be required to provide a 16-euro revenue stamp for each certificate requested);
  • sending a request by post that specifies the type of certificate requested along with your postal address. Remember to attach a copy of your current ID and to include a 16-euro revenue stamp for each certificate requested;
  • sending a request by email to  carriere.studenti@unive.it, specifying the type of certificate requested along with your postal address. Remember to attach a copy of your current ID and a receipt for the online payment of a 16-euro revenue stamp for each certificate requested.

Certificates downloaded from your Personal Area are authenticated by the presence of a univocal protocol number (top right corner), which can be verified upon request. Moreover, certificates can also be downloaded with a digital signature, and are therefore considered as equivalent to certificates picked up from the Student services desk. The authenticity/completeness of certificates can be verified using the special Decoder 2D-Plus software (freeware downloadable from http://www.timbrodigitale.com/) After installing the software, there are two ways to check the stamp present on the document:

  • document in PDF format: open the pdf using Acrobat Reader then select the digital stamp by clicking on the image. Copy the selection into the Clipboard (right-click “Copy image” or go to menu Edit>Copy). Open Decoder 2D-Plus then click on "Carica da Appunti" in the “Caricamento File” box;
  • document on paper: (requires a TWAIN-compatible scanner) open Decoder 2D-Plus then click on scansion icon to scan document (stamp).

Important information: Certificates with digital stamps may only be downloaded five times.

Remember that you must have settled all outstanding tuition fees when you make your request to download a certificate.

In addition to standard certification, enrolled students and graduates who have attended degree programmes at Ca' Foscari may also obtain certificates in English.

The following may be requested:

  • enrolment certificates;
  • enrolment certificates with exams (applies to students enrolled under the new university system established by Ministerial Decrees 509/1999 and 270/2004 only);
  • graduation certificates;
  • enrolment certificates with exams (applies to students enrolled under the new university system established by Ministerial Decrees 509/1999 and 270/2004 only);

We would like to remind you that graduates from first- and second-cycle degree programmes under the new university system may also request the Diploma Supplement, listing the key information with regard to their qualification and the specific curriculum followed by the student, both in Italian and English.
