An international environment

Students of Ca’ Foscari’s PhD programme in Management come from all around the world. Outgoing international mobility is also a main asset of the programme. Visiting research period abroad is supported and funded. Past students have been hosted by universities such as U-Penn Wharton, Cass BS, Oxford Said BS, Copenhagen BS, Emory University-Atlanta, Esade BS.

Starting from the 2020/2021 academic year Ca’ Foscari has established a Double PhD degree program with SKEMA Business School. The programme includes student exchanges for a period going from 6 to18 months. 

PhD students are also encouraged and financially supported to participate in international conferences, summer schools and doctoral colloquiums. Moreover, the Department mandatory seminars host international speakers. Last, the PhD thesis is reviewed and assessed by international referees and the final exam commission is made up by external and international professors and experts in the specific fields. 

Educational aims

The aim of PhD in Management programme is the acquisition of in-depth knowledge of the contents and methods within the fields of administration and finance, and public and private business governance.

  • Corporate and entrepreneurial theories: public, private and non profit company;
  • Theories of credit and finance: financial function of companies and of bank and non-banking financial intermediaries;
  • Accounting theories: national and international accounting principles; individual, group, civil and fiscal accounting, planning and control;
  • Organization theories, organization design, human resource management and competence analysis;
  • Organizational economics and game theory;
  • Business strategy and policy, marketing and economics and management of industrial sectors;
  • Sustainability;
  • Corporate governance and financial markets;
  • Theories of innovation and entrepreneurship;
  • Economic history;
  • Organization and strategic choices of actors in the transport industry;
  • Management of cultural production;
  • Behavioural economics;
  • Operation Research;
  • Labour law and industrial relations.

Professional profiles

The PhD graduate will practice the competencies in teaching and researching acquired as scholars in Academia, as researchers in private and public research institutions and project leaders and managers in consulting companies and private corporations.

From 3 to 7 June 2024 a new edition of Research Communication Week is coming, the Ca' Foscari initiative created to raise awareness and provide tools and soft skills in research communication.
