Epigraphic Manuscripts and Automated Text Recognition

Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, VeDPH Lab (Room 2B06)

The workshop will focus on epigraphic manuscripts: complex handwritten sources that combine textual and graphic information.
Through practical exercises, students will learn to work with these documents through two of the most widely used digital environments for the automatic transcription of handwritings: eScriptorium and Transkribus.
The workshop will allow students to acquire digital skills that can also be applied to the study of other types of manuscripts.
