Interculturality, Multimediality and Intermediality in Zuko Džumhur’s Literary Work- M. Pašić Kodrić

Aula 12, San Sebastiano

Mirzana Pašić Kodrić, University of Sarajevo

Zuko Džumhur is one of the most important Bosniak and Bosnian-Herzegovinian travel writers with a significant place in the South Slavic literary context. His work has an impressive intercultural, multimedial and intermedial character, not only in his travelogues, but generally in the entire body of his creative work. It would be difficult to conclude whether the highly hybrid and very complex nature of the intercultural, multimedial and intermedial nature of Zuko Džumhur's work stem from the poetics of Modernism. Especially when it comes to the Avant-garde heritage, which, as well as Modernism, is very close to him, or theinfluence of remarkable earlier travelogues, which also linkthe drawing to a text like e.g. Evliya Çelebi etc. However, it is certain that the reasons behind his unique discourse can also be found in the fact that Zuko Džumhur, by his nature, was a very multidimensional person of many preferences, talents, professions and interests.

Mirzana Pašić Kodrić is an Associate Professor of Literature and head of the Department of Pre school Education at theFaculty of Education, University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as a contemporary Bosnian writer and member of the Writers' Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina and other literary organizations in BiH and abroad. She has published co-authored scientific books "Ethical Criticism and Childrens' Literature“ (2020) and the "Book about Nasiha“ (2022) and a number of scientific and professional papers, as well as several independent art books in the field of literature (some of them have been translated into several world languages). She has won numerous awards for her literary work and she is one of the founders of the Institute of Children's Literature of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
