Language acquisition: maturation and early learning

Anna Gavarró (UAB)

The seminar will address some questions that drive the studies on language acquisition:
Is language acquisition limited by an inborn timeline?
If so, what evidence can we adduce for it?
And how early do infants and children establish the syntactic properties of the language in the environment?
prof. Gavarró will consider these issues on the basis of studies mainly, but not only, the Romance languages.

Anna Gavarró is Professor in Linguistics at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Her research focuses on first language acquisition. At the moment she is the director of the Centre de Lingüística Teòrica at the UAB. Prof. Gavarró is the author impactful articles on language acquisition, among which:
