Abstract

We are entering the fourth decade of scholarly editions in digital form, and this paper reviews the extent to which digital editions have changed our understanding of the works presented in these editions. This talk will examine how four different areas of textual scholarship — the Greek New Testament, Boccaccio’s Teseida, Dante’s Commedia and Chaucer’s Book of the Tales of Canterbury — have been affected by the advent of digital tools.
