Entrepreneurial Mind in Venturing: Integrating Ideas, Action, and New Ventures - Prof. Dimo Dimov

San Giobbe Room Saraceno

Prof. Dimo Dimov - University of Bath

Abstract:

Connecting ideas, action, and new ventures in entrepreneurship theory has posed a persistent challenge. A double bind arises from the need to see future ventures in ideas and ideas in actions. We resolve this impasse by shifting theoretical analysis to venturing as a higher-order function, defining entrepreneurial action as a class distinct from its instances. From this perspective, idea and agent are internal parameters of the function and ventures are outputs of its instances. Entrepreneurial mind is thus a capacity of instigating and regulating venturing. It is not something entrepreneurs have, but something they participate in. This perspective clarifies the relationship between an entrepreneur’s journey and venture’s journey, illuminates the role of tools in venture creation, and provides a foundation for theorizing hybrid human–AI venture systems and advancing design-oriented scholarship.
