The A4EU Observatory on Society and AI

Abstract

In this talk I will present the activity carried out during the first year of the AI4EU project. Specifically, I will describe the AI4EU Observatory on Society and AI, its overall goal and main functions. Also, I will outline the key takeaways from the piloting of the European Trustworthy AI guidelines, and the recent policy proposals launched by the European Commission (e.g. White paper). Finally I will give an overview of the next steps including the upcoming launch of the working group on the ethical and legal issues of AI.

Bio sketch

Teresa Scantamburlo, got her PhD in Computer Science from Ca' Foscari University. Since March 2019 she has been working at the European Centre of Living Technology (Ca'Foscari, Venice) on the AI4EU project. Before that she was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Bristol (UK). Her main interests are the application of AI at policy and decision making, the governance of AI and the interaction between humans and AI.
