Raffaella Burioni, professor of Theoretical Physics at the Department of Mathematical, Physical and Computer Sciences at the University of Parma and ECLT Fellow, has been nominated Chair of the Board of the Statistical and Nonlinear Physics Division of the European Physical Society.

The European Physical Society (EPS), founded in 1968, is an association comprising 42 national physics societies throughout Europe, with scientists from all fields of physics and all European research institutions. 

EPS engages in multiple activities dedicated to strengthening ties among physicists in Europe on issues related to research, science policy and education. The "Statistical and Nonlinear Physics" Division (SNPD) is dedicated to supporting the advancement of research and the dissemination of key scientific results in the fields of statistical physics, nonlinear physics, complex systems physics and their interdisciplinary applications.

Prof. Burioni, joined by the newly appointed Board, also newly appointed, will serve as President for the next three years.
