With the participation of scholars and artists engaged in the transnational and local movements for the rights of nature,  the symposium will explore the physical, psychological and political dimensions of our relatedness to nature, and particularly to water.  Watery landscapes and environments are vehicles of ancestral relations renovated by humans through economic, spiritual, artistic and recreational practices. Today, in the face of climate crises and socio-ecological injustice,  these same practices can convey an eco-political potential for the recognition of the subjectivity and personhood of rivers, lakes, lagoons, maritime environments, wetlands and amphibian ecosystems at large.

The event is part of the NATURE SPEAKS program.
