Winners of the 3rd edition of the youth contest ‘The Water We Want’ announced

Press release
The Global Network of Water Museums announced during its 8th General Assembly the Winners and Special Mentions of the 3rd Edition of the International Youth Contest and Award The Water We Want (TWWW). This competition aims at exploring our water heritage (both  natural and cultural, tangible and intangible) from the perspective of young people. With this contest, running from November 2021 to June 2022, the Global Network of Water Museums (WAMU-NET) invites students between the ages of 6 to 18 to be the storytellers of our liquid futures.
This year, the Global Network received almost one hundred works among drawings, photos, videos and water songs. Twenty museum members across India, China, Morocco, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, Romania, Croatia and Portugal took part in the contest. All the works shortlisted by the museums feature in the online digital exhibition available at this link
Artworks sent by young people from all over the world highlight the diversity, richness and, at times, fragile nature of our water heritage. Preventing further pollution and waste and mitigating impacts of climate change are today the urgent imperative to stop the dramatic consequences of the global water crises and the continuous loss of freshwater biodiversity. The Water We Want offers a platform for the many young and talented participants who want to express their hopes and concerns and tell the world about their local water stories.
The 6 winners of the 3rd Edition are divided by categories of works and age groups,  as follow:

All works shortlisted by the museums affiliated to WAMU-NET feature in the online digital exhibition available at this link.
The Water We Want is organised by the Global Network of Water Museums, a flagship initiative of UNESCO-IHP (Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme) to explore  our rich and multifaceted water heritage from the perspective of young people and  promote a new water culture on a global scale.
The 3rd Edition was supported by the Living Waters Museum, India.
