Prof. Rotraud von Kulessa

DSLCC

Interview

1. Please provide a brief outline of your training and scientific activity.
My research focuses on 18th-century female authors in France and Italy, as well as on cultural transfer processes and intellectual networking in Enlightenment Europe. I am currently working on a critical edition of the correspondence of the Anglo-Venetian writer Giustiniana Wynne (1737–1791).

2. Please state your reasons for choosing Venice and the Department for your research and teaching stay.
Over the past 20 years, my research interests have repeatedly taken me to Venice, where I primarily use the archives, libraries and my personal network for my work. The city has become like a second home to me.

3. Have you ever had a research collaboration with the teaching staff of Department of Linguistics and Comparative Cultural Studies in the past?
I have been working with Prof. Magda Campanini since 2019, supervising master's theses and dissertations in the co-tutelle procedure, among other things. I have also been fortunate enough to have been a visiting researcher in the department twice.
