Interview

1. Please provide a brief outline of your training and scientific activity.
I am historian interested in the global history of the XX Century. My work focuses on the past and present of the Third World, especially contemporary histories of India and Mexico. I hold a bachelor´s degree from Universitat Pomepu Fabra, Barcelona, a master´s degress from El Colegio de México and completed my PhD at King´s College, London. My training has been interdisciplinary and as part of my research I have conducted archival and field work in India, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Spain and the United States. I am currently working on a manuscript on the global history of decolonization during the second half of the XX Century, as well as a book project on the interconnected histories of India and Mexico.

2. Please state your reasons for choosing Venice and the Department for your research and teaching stay.
I am thrilled to be able to contribute to the activities of the Dipartimento di Studi Lunguistici e Culturali Comparati of Università Ca´ Foscari Venezia, an insitution renowned for its commitment to intetrnationalization, interdisciplinarity and critical global studies. It is a privilege to be able to teach the students at Ca´ Foscari, and an honor to be able to collaborate with it´s faculty members. Given the tradition of cosmpolitanism and openness of the University and its city, I am confident that this is the right place to take my own research interests and teching work forward.

3. Have you ever had a research collaboration with the teaching staff of Department of Linguistics and Comparative Cultural Studies in the past?
For almost a decade, I have collaborated and engaged in an ongoing dialogue with Professor Vanni Pettinà. For years we have both contributed to the International History Seminar, a transnational group that brings together colleagues from Italy, Argentina, Uruguay and Mexico and focuses on the study and discussion of global and international contemporary history.
