Identity, Trauma, Memory: Serbian Literature from 1991 to 2021

On Friday, March 27 at 2:00 PM, in the Sala Sarpellon of Ca’ Bembo, Tihomir Brajović (University of Belgrade) will present the three volumes produced within the research project Serbian Literature 1991–2021: Identity, Trauma, Memory, which he coordinated.

The collections Rekonfiguracija identiteta u srpskoj književnosti 1991–2021 and Decades After: Serbian Literature 1991–2021 bring together a series of interdisciplinary essays addressing the themes of identity, trauma, and memory in Serbian literature over the past thirty years; the volume Decenije posle instead presents a selection of literary texts from the same period.

Tihomir Brajović is a full professor of South Slavic Literature and Comparative Literature at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Belgrade, as well as the author of numerous essays and critical studies. Between 2015 and 2016, he served as editor-in-chief of the journal Književna istorija, one of the most authoritative academic journals in the Serbian literary field. He was the principal investigator (PI) of the research project Serbian Literature 1991–2021: Identity, Trauma, Memory. For his scholarly work, he has received numerous national awards and is considered one of the leading experts on the works of Ivo Andrić, to whom he has dedicated several studies.

The event will be held in Serbian with consecutive translation into Italian.
