Tourist destination adaptation through translation: divergences in Turespaña brochures

The initiative aims to explore the role of translation in adapting tourism content for international audiences, with particular attention to strategies used in institutional communication. Through a comparative analysis of multilingual materials, the main divergences between different language versions will be highlighted, as well as their impact on the representation of the tourist destination.

The event will feature Prof. José María Castellano Martínez, who will present a talk entitled “La adecuación del destino turístico a través de la traducción: divergencias entre folletos multilingües de Turespaña”. The presentation will offer insights into translation practices in the tourism sector and the cultural and communicative implications of linguistic choices.
