Dye Garden: science, sustainability and creativity
Come discover our Dye Garden and create your own bandana for summer!

The Dye Garden project was born within the laboratory afferent to the Dyes and Pigment Industry teaching of the Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Chemistry and Technology.
The garden boasts the presence of native and allochthonous plants typically used for the extraction of dyes and pigments traditionally used in the dyeing of animal and plant fibers. Combining cross-disciplinary skills, an educational and research course has been designed to rediscover and analyze dyeing techniques that use materials that are sustainable for the environment and the user, from a circular economy perspective.

PROGRAMME:

  • Theoretical introduction: presentation of research projects for the study of dyes.
  • Visit to the dye garden: to learn about the species currently present and being planted, their use and potential.
  • CREATE YOUR BANDANA FOR SUMMER workshop: learn Hapa Zome and ink-printing techniques with botanical dyes to decorate your bandana.

To participate, simply fill out the online form.

In case of rain: we will make a short visit to the garden and then move to ROOM DELTA 0A for the botanical dyeing workshop.

We will meet inside the Alfa Building reception, at 9.30 am.

As a reminder, the event will take place outdoors. Appropriate clothing for the activity using dyes is recommended.
