Even if not directly subject to regulations, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are increasingly being asked to measure and report on their sustainability performance. Banks, investors, and large clients are now requiring SMEs to provide information on the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) impacts, risks, and opportunities related to their operations.

Our fourth webinar will delve into the relationship between SMEs and banking institutions in the context of sustainability. We'll pay particular attention to information exchange and the definition of a balanced reporting model. This model aims to, on one hand, meet the information needs of key stakeholders—primarily banks—and, on the other hand, help SMEs develop greater awareness of the importance of identifying, measuring, and communicating their ESG impacts.

During the session, we will present the main reporting tools available to SMEs. These include the European standard "Voluntary Sustainability Reporting Standard for non-listed SMEs (VSME)" developed by EFRAG, and the national document "Sustainability Dialogue between SMEs and Banks," which emerged from the Sustainable Finance Roundtable. We will also analyze the European regulatory framework that mandates financial institutions to collect ESG data from SMEs, and the growing influence of these factors in credit risk assessments.
