ESAUSTE: Rethinking Waste and Communities in Tourism (NRRP - iNEST)

Monday, October 27, 2025, 4:45 PM–8:00 PM

Teatrino Groggia, Cannaregio 3150, Venice

This is the final dissemination event for the Young Researcher iNEST project, "Sustainable Business Models for Tourism with a Culture-Based Approach" , funded by the European Union Next-GenerationEU as part of the NRRP.

The ESAUSTE project explored the concept of waste in tourism , both as material waste (e.g., spent oil) and as a symbolic and marginalized narrative element. Through participatory workshops and artistic practices, the team led by Dr. Chiara Carolina Donelli tested new visions for more sustainable and community-based tourism.

The program includes:

  • Institutional greetings by Fabrizio Panozzo.
  • Talk by Marco Armiero (Autonomous University of Barcelona) on the concept of Wasteocene.
  • Presentation of the artist's booklet by Elena Mazzi.
  • The sound performance "Secret Compound" by Andrea Santini.
  • Networking aperitif by Collettivo Barena Bianca.
