AIKU Seminars | Game Design as a Cultural Meta-Technology

Campus San Giobbe - Aula Murano

Game Design as a Cultural Meta-Technology

This seminar explores the evolution of Game Design, a field that has grown beyond its economic significance to become a sophisticated cultural technology. Today, game-based processes are widely applied across diverse sectors, including corporate training, marketing, pedagogy, and clinical settings.

Together with Tiziano Antognozzi (Researcher at the BACH Center, Università G. d'Annunzio), we will examine a necessary paradigm shift. Moving past traditional "gamification" models—which often fail to produce long-term effects—the seminar presents game design as a cultural framework that enables the creation of meaning.

The discussion will introduce a specialized framework integrating four dimensions: Game, Play, Gameplay, and RePlay. By analyzing these through recursive "play-loops," we will discover how ludic experiences can lead to lasting personal and systemic transformations at the intersection of art, behavior, and policy.
