Aula Biral, Palazzo Malcanton-Marcorà and online (Zoom)

SPIN 2024 WHERE | Seminar of Close Reading
The Scientific Foundation of the Study of Perishable Living Beings: De Partibus Animalium, Historia Animalium, De Generatione Animalium

The project aims to bring Aristotle's biological treatises to the forefront of the debate on environmental ethics. This topic will be explored within the framework of a broader theoretical reassessment of Aristotle's biological corpus and his vision of the living realm. To this end, reading seminars will be organized dedicated to Aristotle's biological works and their potential impact on current views of the natural environment. The working methodology will consist of considering the texts in light of their historical and cultural context, as well as exegetical debate and contemporary discussions.
