Shaping China’s Ageing Futures: Socio-Economic Challenges, Cultural Transformation and Governance Innovations
This seminar explores the social, cultural, and economic transformations shaping contemporary China through a sociological lens. Professor Chen Yanjiao will discuss population ageing, age-friendly communities, and the changing relationship between social development and cultural change. Dr. Mark Awe Tachega will examine innovative methodological approaches to sociological research, including the use of machine learning and advanced statistical techniques for survey analysis. Together, the speakers will offer insights into the challenges and opportunities arising from demographic transition, governance innovation, and evolving social structures in China.
Chen Yanjiao, Professor of Sociology. Her academic profile focuses on comprehensive sociological studies, including the Age-Friendly Cities and Communities Questionnaire (AFCCQ) ì and cultural and economic transformations in China.
Mark Awe Tachega, a sociology postdoctoral fellow, specializes in academic training, research design, and statistical methodology. His research expertise includes the application of machine learning technology to sociological surveys and data analysis.
