Interview

1. Please provide a brief outline of your training and scientific activity.

I am Professor of the Universidade of Vigo, specialist in Golden Age Spanish literature. My investigation goals are the poetry of XVIIth Century and, in particular, the works of Francisco of Quevedo, one of the most important authors of the Spanish literature. In the last years I have an Investigation Project about the reception of Quevedo, very focused on the Italian entourage, and I have recently published a complete critical edition of the Sardinian poet in spanish Jose/Giuseppe Delitala.

2. Please state your reasons for choosing Venice and the Department for your research and teaching stay.

The Teaching Staff of Department of Linguistics and Comparative Cultural Studies of the University Ca’ Foscari, dedicated to the investigation of Golden Age Spanish Literature is one of the most prestigious Department in the world.

Venice, besides, has been goal of my investigation, as a important part of my special interest in Francisco of Quevedo, who has written so many papers and texts about the city of Venice and its decisive role on politics on XVIIth century in Europe. I have the intention, as a fundamental aim of my research, to write a essay on the relations between Quevedo and Venice, with the consult of the collections of Biblioteca Marciana.

The subject of my teaching stay, the Theatre in Spanish Language, has been for so many academic years my principal course in the University of Vigo: I have written a synthetic panorama of this matter. I don’t want to forget that I has been, during five years, the organizer and responsible of Master of Performing Arts in my university and the teacher of Golden Age European Theatre, in which Venice occupies a central place.

3. Have you ever had a research collaboration with the teaching staff of Department of Linguistics and Comparative Cultural Studies in the past?

I have a very close colaboration with Adrian J. Saez in the past: we both have participated in so many conferences and seminars about Golden Age Spanish Poetry and I have counted on him for the organization of various investigations eetings and for his collaboration on a Congress I have prepared in Vigo in June 2018. It’s necessary to remember our Erasmus Agreement between Ca’Foscari and University of Vigo for students and for our respectiveTeaching Staff.
