Interview (Rafael Rojas)

1.    Please provide a brief outline of your training and scientific activity.

I’m professor and researcher at El Colegio de México and member of the Mexican Academy of History. Currently I’m also director of the journal Historia Mexicana. My field of specialization is the political and intellectual history of Latin America and the Caribbean in the 19th and 20th centuries. Two oy my last books are El árbol de las revoluciones (Turner, 2021), “The Tree of Revolutions”, a history of latin american revolutions in 20th Century, and La epopeya del sentido (Colmex, 2022), an essay on the concept of Revolution in Mexico.
 
2.    Please state your reasons for choosing Venice and the Department for your research and teaching stay.
The stay at the Università Ca’ Foscari in Venezia is an opportunity to get in touch with Latin American studies in Italy and to do research in Italian archives and libraries on the contemporary history of Latin America and the Cariibean.

3.    Have you ever had a research collaboration with the teaching staff of Department of Linguistics and Comparative Cultural Studies in the past?
No, this is my first contac with the Department of Linguistic and Comparative Cultural History.
