Interview

1. Please provide a brief outline of your training and scientific activity.

I majored in History at Western Parana State University (2003). I took my master's degree in Social History at Uberlandia Federal University (2006). Afterwards, I took my doctor's degree in Social History at the Pontifical Catholic University of Sao Paulo (2012). I am currently a professor at the Federal University of Goias, in Goiania, where I teach the History of Republican Brazil at the History Department.
I am also a professor in the Post Graduate Program of Studies in History and the Professional Master in History Teaching. My research themes consist of the History of Republican Brazil, more specifically concerning culture, cities, laborers, social movements, migrations, memory, and public history.

2. Please state your reasons for choosing Venice and the Department for your research and teaching stay.

The Università Ca’Foscari di Venezia is my choice to further develop my academic inquiry because the University is a privileged place to research the themes I am interested in. The Italian historiography, in general, and Ca’Foscari’s intellectual production, in particular, are internationally recognized for their excellence in Oral History, one of the main evidence of the research, and the Italian emigration to the American Continent, the theme of investigation here proposed. The supervisor, Prof. Dr. Luis Fernando Beneduzzi, has an extensive experience in studies of Italian emigration to Brazil. He is a mandatory reference for those who want to investigate the subject. Professor Beneduzzi also has significant knowledge of research methodology, as a result of having dedicated years of study to Oral History. Therefore, my choice of the Università Ca’Foscari di Venezia is motivated by the aim of developing an investigation at an international reference center to the questions here outlined.

3. Have you ever had a research collaboration with the teaching staff of History and International Relationship in the past?

I’ve followed the intellectual production of Università Ca’Foscari di Venezia for a few years, When I participated in the IV Congresso dell'Associazone Internacionale AREIA, an association of which I am a member. The congress took place at the University in 2018. Since then, I maintain a research correspondence with the professors of Ca’Foscari and AREIA.
