Doing Otherwise: Direct Action and Collective Practices between Culture and Organization
Bologna University, 11-12 December 2026

The conference welcomes scholars to critically engage with alternative forms of organizing that challenge dominant individualistic and market-oriented paradigms. Among the themes we are especially interested in are grassroots and DIY organizing, commoning and self-management practices, autonomous infrastructures and mutual aid, the politics of refusal — slowing down, sabotaging, opting out — and cultural production, as a terrain once imagined as a site of social change and now increasingly absorbed into the logics they were expected to resist.
