AIKU Seminars | The SDGs, the Culture Goal and the End of the Rules-Based International Order

Ca'Foscari, Dorsoduro 3246 - Aula Berengo

The SDGs, the Culture Goal and the End of the Rules-Based International Order
with Justin O'Connor, Professor of Creative Economy, University of South Australia Adelaide.

The seminar explores the relationship between culture, sustainable development and contemporary transformations in the international order. It critically examines the role of culture within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and reflects on the assumptions, values and policy narratives that have shaped global cultural agendas over recent decades.

The discussion also addresses the growing importance of cultural indicators and monitoring frameworks, considering how measurement practices influence cultural policy and debates around the emerging Culture Goal. By connecting these themes to broader geopolitical and institutional changes, the seminar offers an opportunity to reflect on the future place of culture in international governance and development.
