Aula Magna Silvio Trentin - Ca' Dolfin

Speaker:
Matteo Bottai, Karolinska Institutet, Sweden

Abstract:
The seminar discusses the preeminent role of statistical models and inferences in modern science. It starts by introducing seven modeling principles and moves on to outlining a general statistical analytical framework and relating it to popular models in other areas of science and artificial intelligence products. It focuses on real-data examples and highlights future opportunities and challenges. The seminar assumes no previous knowledge of statistics and is intended for a general audience of researchers and students in statistics and other disciplines, such as economics, engineering, physics, and interested non-academicians.
