Antonio Trampus
Modern history

What do you teach at Ca’ Foscari? What are your main research interests?
My name is Antonio Trampus. I am an expert in modern history and focus on the Age of Enlightenment, which is the era when European and Western cultures strove for the triumph of reason and the affirmation of people's rights and freedoms.

Tell us about your academic path.
I studied at the University of Trieste, completed my studies at the University of Turin and then came to Ca' Foscari.

What does teaching and researching mean to you?
Always accepting new challenges, questioning oneself in response to changing generations, changing circumstances and the need to renew research to avoid going down already beaten tracks.

What would you say to young people starting their university career?
That they have a great opportunity to build their own future, to bring out their inclinations, to understand what they are really suited for in order to make increasingly conscious decisions.

Why Ca’ Foscari and Venice?
Because it provides a quality of life and lifestyle, not only university-wise, that is difficult to replicate elsewhere.
